Black Dog began with fewer members than most bus queues. |

In small cast productions using minimal props, we have been applauded for our daring and innovative approach. |

Influenced by the work of Berkoff, Artaud and Brook, we have devised our own style of theatre in which the audience is a vital part of the process. |

We were created in 1997 when, with “The Zoo Story”, we won Best Actor, Best Set and Best Production in Harrogate’s Drama Festival. |

Since that time we have produced most of our plays in Harrogate Theatre’s Studio space creating atmospheric, small scale dramas from which “there is no escape”. |

Andy Cholerton has composed the music for all productions working closely with the company throughout the rehearsal process. |

2002 saw the first company devised production, an area we had wanted to explore for some time. |
