The Harrogate Advertiser
It's hard to single out any one member of Harrogate Dramatic Society
for their performance in the Hollow.
They all deserve credit for their talanted displays throughout the
Agatha Christie murder/mystery.
They captured the audience's attention completely as they portrayed
the murder of a doctor when the AngKatell family and their friends
gathered for a quiet weekend.
The cast introduced themselves marvellously throughout act one,
and this superb acting continue during the whodunnit scenes of act
two. And they certainly weren't about the let on who the murderer
was.
Could it have been the glamerous actress to whom the victim had
once been engaged, his mistress maybe, or even his gentle wife?
Only those who had seen the play before could have guessed.
And although I didn't want to single out any one in particular a
mention has to be given to Iris Mitchell, who throughout her role
as Lady Angkatell added a sparkling touch of humour and charm to
the play.
Also Ann Anstis, who played the doctor's wife, when her gentle character
changed as she dramatically admitted killing her husband.
The stylish set, the Angkatell's garden room, fitted the play perfectly.
This review wouldn't be complete without praise for designer David
Ayre, and those who decorated it.
All I can say is that the few empty seats scattered around Harrogate
Theatre should have been filled for this commanding performance.
