Lies, lies and more lies!
Harrogate Dramatic Society's latest offering, J.B.Priestley's Dangerous Corner proved a real winner - and that's the truth.
The tangled plot of intrigue, unrequited love and a final twist was the perfect choice for keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
And although the cast was just seven-strong, each character contributed well to the fine overall performance.
Andy Scarborough turned in an excellent portrayal as the impressionable Gordon Whitehouse whose life is shattered when close friend Martin Caplan apparently kills himself.
Full marks for being able to convey anger and dispair as much with his eyes as with his actions.
Clarence Eaglen is also to be commended for the way in which he transformed the dead man's brother, Robert from a caring husband into an inebriated reject. Judith Simpson was perfectly cast as Olwen Peel who finally reveals her darkest secrets and Alan Harwood was appropriately cool and calculating as corrupt business partner, Charles Stanton
The hard work involved in staging this latest production was more than evident, not just with the mountain of dialogue, but with the costumes and set aswell.
Space in Harrogate Theatre's studio is at a premium but the audience really felt asthough it was looking into a real living room.
Dangerous Corner ran for five evenings until Saturday and prolonged applause on the opening night was proof of a highly entertaining production.
