“Deeds, not words’ was to be our permanent motto.” (Emmeline Pankhurst)
Suffragette……a woman seeking the right to vote through organised protest.
The term Suffragette is most associated with Womens’ Social and Political Union (WSPU) led by Emmeline Pankhurst. 100 years ago, after much fighting, women over 30 who met certain property qualifications, were given the right to vote and in 1928 the age was reduced to 21 for all women.
The Sound of Breaking Glass follows the story of one married woman who becomes a Suffragette. It tells the story of how it affects her, her family and the people around her. A new play written by Sally Sherringham, it is making its stage debut at Harrogate Theatre.
‘The Sound of Breaking Glass’ is coming to Harrogate Studio Theatre from Tuesday 23rd October to Saturday 27th October 2018. Tickets are on sale now from the Harrogate Theatre Box Office. You can buy them online by clicking here or by calling 01423 502 116.
