MEMBERSHIP
- Any person aged sixteen or over shall be eligible for membership of the Society provided his or her election thereto shall be proposed and seconded by members of the Society, and favourably balloted for at a meeting of the Executive Committee whose decision shall, in all cases, be final. A person so elected shall not, however, become a member until he or shall has:-
- been notified to such effect by or on behalf of the Executive Committee;
- complied with any formalities specified in such cases by the Executive Committee;
- paid the subscription for the current year to the Society.
- Persons under the age of sixteen may be admitted to membership entirely at the discretion of the Executive Committee, and subject to any special conditions which they may from time to time decide upon.
- The Executive Committee shall have the power (after hearing an explanation which the member concerned may wish to tender) to suspend or expel from membership any Member whose conduct, in their opinion, is likely to bring into ill-repute or to endanger the welfare, good name or order of the Society and they shall be under no obligation to furnish reasons for their decision. No member whose membership has been terminated under this rule shall be introduced by any member as a visitor to any part of the Society’s premises.
- No member of the Society shall be deemed to have, merely by virtue of his or her membership thereof, any rights of admission to entertainments and productions of plays by the Society, other than, or beyond the rights of, members of the Public except as notified from time to time by or on behalf of the Executive Committee.
- The Executive Committee shall have the right, at any time, to elect Honorary Life Members for the purpose of recognising exceptional service to the Society. Such Life Members shall have the same rights and responsibilities as Subscribing Members.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
- The subscription of the Society shall only be altered at the Annual General Meeting of the Society or at an Extraordinary General Meeting thereof, called for such purpose, and of which seven clear days notice in writing has been given to members.
- It shall be permissible to charge a reduced subscription for persons under the age of sixteen.
- All subscriptions shall become payable at the commencement of each new financial year of the Society, and members shall forward same to the Treasurer or other authorised official, who will acknowledge by means of a receipt.
- Any member whose subscription is unpaid by the 31st December following and who fails thereafter to respond to a notice in writing to pay the same, shall be deemed to have terminated his or her membership, and upon completion of the then current year, the name of such member shall be erased from the list of members.
PATRONS
- At the discretion of the Executive Committee, persons may become Friends (Patrons) of the Society by payment of an annual subscription or by any other means which the Executive Committee may decide from time to time.
- Such persons shall have the right of priority booking for the major productions of the Society and may attend such additional entertainments, social events and other activities as the Executive Committee may decide.
